Middle Park Primary School get creative for Stomp Out The Gap Day!

What better way was there to help Stomp Out The Gap than by wearing crazy shoes!! Our “Gap” student leaders Lola, Charlie, Elise, Lucas, Jack, Georgia and Stephanie did a wonderful job in planning and organising a fun day for students. Students were encouraged to wear crazy shoes to school, and to bring a gold coin donation. We raised $564 from this activity.
Our school wide activity was for all students to help make the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags by using shoes as stencils. We painted the soles of the shoes and each student in our school has placed a painted shoe print onto the sheets to make our flags. We flew these flags and acknowledged their history and link to country during our assembly. We will now display these flags in our school library.
At lunchtime it was great to see so many students join in our Lap-a-thon, and thank you to all of the family and friends who sponsored them. Fingers crossed we are the school that raises the most money and wins the prize of a visit to our school by Cathy Freeman.
It was a great day. What made it great was everyone joining in the fun and activities to raise money for a really good cause.
