Destination: Sunshine Coast

Over the last week Andrew Cannon AM has covered quite a bit of ground, driving to interesting and wonderful places such as Proserpine, Mackay, Rockhampton, Biloela, 1770, Bundaberg, and Hervey Bay. Andrew's current destination is Noosa where the car will undergo a service and rest ahead of the remainder of the journey down the east coast the following week. The car is holding up incredibly well and has covered over 8000KM since departing from Melbourne. A highlight from this week was a visit to Jambin for the Champagne Campdraft, Not a sport for the fainthearted, riders on horseback compete to move cattle away from the herd and guide them into an arena. Andrew had fun meeting the locals at a car show in Biloela and the young country kids loved the Vauxhall. In Mackay, Andrew was honoured to be a special guest speaker at St Joseph's Primary School where he met with the Mayor and spoke about the importance of supporting Indigenous education.

Media interest is still going strong and such an important part of Andrew's mission to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation. It was wonderful to hear Andrew speak to ABC Radio Cornucopia in Rockhampton, talking about the work of the Cathy Freeman Foundation and acknowledging the generous sponsors along the way.

If you would like to support Andrew on his drive and help more Indigenous children succeed in school, please visit the special 10,000km donation page here.
