Darwin Horizons and beyond....

After a well-deserved rest in Darwin, Andrew Cannon AM is back on the road again today and will drive from Tennant Creek to the next major stop, Mt Isa.

Earlier this week, Andrew was thrilled to spend time with students from our partner communities in the NT - Galiwin'ku and Woorabinda. "It's wonderful to see how much the program has grown from it's early beginnings," said Andrew.

The Darwin camp is tailored specifically for junior students in Years 5/6 from the Foundation's NT partner communities in Galiwinku and Wurrumiyanga. The camp is filled with educational and cultural activities designed to increase self esteem and help them set goals for the future.

It was great to see lots of media interest in Darwin with Andrew and the Horizons kids being interviewed by Channel 9 News, Radio 104.9 and the local paper, NT News.

Above is a photo of Jimmy Hooker, a bush poet and gold prospector. He lives just outside of Tennant Creek and has been featured on ABC's Australian Story. An interesting man.

Over the weekend, Andrew also made the trip across to Tiwi Islands and spent some time meeting with locals from our partner community, Wurrumiyanga.
