Out on the open road

Andrew Cannon AM is four days into his outback adventure across Australia in his vintage 1923 Presentation Vauxhall.

Since hitting the road on Monday, he has already covered over 1,000 kms with the mighty Vauxhall holding up incredibly well. After short stops in Horsham (VIC), Murray Bridge (SA) and Petersborough (SA), Andrew drove onto Port Augusta today where he's been busy talking to local media and encouraging the community to get behind the Cathy Freeman Foundation. So far Andrew has raised an incredible $120,000 to help support Indigenous education and he shows no signs of slowing down.

"People are loving the car, trucks are tooting and it's wonderful to engage with the locals and raise a bit of money along the way." Andrew said. "There is a long way to go, but all is going according to plan."

This morning Andrew had an early morning interview with Radio 5AU and MAGIC FM and this evening Andrew and the Vauxhall will feature on Southern Cross TV news.

Over the next few days Andrew will make his way to Coober Pedy before arriving in Alice Springs for the infamous Henly on Todd.
